School History

Chipperfield was originally built in 1974 as the Stroudsburg Middle School, it was known as "the school with no walls"; this building was originally intended for open concept instruction, where large groups of students were overseen by teams of teachers.

This building was then converted to the Stroudsburg Area Intermediate Elementary School which housed SASD students 3 and 4. When Clearview Elementary in 2015 closed Chipperfield became the largest elementary school in the district with k-2 students and teachers joining SIES staff and students.

Currently, Chipperfield is a K-4 building with ~750 students.
